Audiobook Narrator

Jim has always been an avid traveler, whether it be hitchhiking from Colorado to Mexico to New York to Europe, or working in the Nigerian bush, the Suez Canal, the Italian Alps, or the Venezuelan prairie. In later life, this love of travel translated into building a camper van (also a great, portable, sound studio) to tour the country with his dogs. In all these places, he has been a student of voices. It’s not unusual for him to walk away from a new acquaintance trying to imitate their voice.

Jim has strong audio drama roots. He was the lead actor in a 2011 serial podcast. (James Baxter, Googies, 2010) that won a coveted Parsec award for Best Speculative Fiction Audio Drama, Long Form.

In addition, he was a member of the SOVA-nominated multi-cast production of “This is Ear Hustle” published by PRH.

Jim has worked with a number of fine coaches. The most influential have been Joel Froomkin, who taught him how to create and sometimes corral characters, and Julie Wilson, who helped him discover the authentic self he wants to portray to deliver and derive the most narration joy.
